An unusual rock formation that served, c.1690-1825, as location of Catholic Masses during Penal Law era in Ireland. Sandstone structure with overhanging canopy, set into hillside and now forming boundary to private garden.
This mass rock has religious, social and cultural importance for the local area, as it was the location of Masses during the era of the sectarian Penal Laws in Ireland. Although now part of a private garden, a stone plaque identifies the site along the roadside.
