Single-arch railway bridge, built c.1895, carrying road over former Stranolar to Glenties Railway line (opened 1895 and closed 1952). Segmental arch with four courses of yellow brick voussoirs, and rusticated stone quoins. Splayed diagonal piers flanking arch to each elevation, with rusticated squared and snecked stonework with rendered copings. Squared and snecked stone parapets with smooth-rendered copings. Road-over-river bridge adjacent to east.
This well-constructed and robust railway bridge is an important element of the transport and civil engineering heritage of Dún na nGall [County Donegal]. It was built by the Donegal Railway Company to serve the Stranorlar to Glenties Railway line, which opened in 1895 and closed in 1952. It is well built of rusticated sandstone with distinctive yellow brick headers. The piers make the bridge a striking feature in the landscape.
