Description

Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, installed c.1890, with fluted cylindrical shaft with inset panel bearing name of foundry 'Glenfield & Kennedy Ltd Kilmarnock', and moulded base and neck, latter with lion's head mask spout. Fluted domed cap with acorn finial. Now disused and handle is missing. Set into concrete footpath.

Appraisal

This hydrant is one of an interesting group of water pumps in Glaslough village. Its fine iron casting is evident and the pump is embellished by its lion's mask spout and the acorn finial.
