Appraisal

This Victorian post-box is an attractive item of street furniture that is representative of mass produced cast-iron ware. The embossed royal cipher and banded margins and royal cipher enhance this utilitarian object. The monogram is furthermore a reminder of a time when Ireland formed part of the British Empire. It is also a well designed example of high quality mass-produced cast-iron.
