Description

Cast-iron water pump, c.1885, and cast-iron hydrant, c.1870. Hydrant comprises fluted shaft and dome with acorn finial, foundry mark (illegible) and bucket shelf to base. Pump, erected c.1885, having banded shaft, fluted neck and curved cow's tail handle. Set in paved area to south-western approach to Newbliss.

Appraisal

These water pumps displays good quality cast-iron design and casting. They are testament to an era before mains water supply.
