Freestanding rectangular-plan mausoleum, built c.1905, comprising rubble limestone structure built into slop of graveyard to St Maeldoid's Church of Ireland, having brick courses to tops of walls, with cut granite kerb above having cast-iron spearhead railings. Square-headed doorway to east elevation, having block and start cut granite surround with drop keystone and metal door. Square-plan cut granite monument within railings having stepped plinth with inscriptions to base and to front and side panels, commemorating Robert Morris. Monument topped by sculpted finial.
The Morris mausoleum is one of several within the Church of Ireland graveyard at Castleblayney. It is an intact example of a late nineteenth/early twentieth-century burial place and is enhanced by its railed top and the fine granite monument with inscriptions to those interred below. The doorway to the burial chamber may indicate an earlier structure.
