Triple-span bridge carrying road over River Finn, built c.1930, to replace earlier bridge. Concrete piers with U-shaped cutwaters to each elevation supporting pre-stressed concrete carriageway, having concrete parapets with square-profile piers and render capping.
This is a rare example of the early structural use of concrete in a rural context and signifies the technological development which was ongoing in Ireland throughout the twentieth century. The horizontal emphasis of this bridge is enlivened by U-shaped cutwaters and parapet piers. Its simple design and execution, as well as fabric, is indicative of the influence of modern architecture.
