Public Access: Private Name Cordoogan is on entrance gate.
Originally a modest-sized site for a c.1830s house with surrounding tree cover. Much enlarged and embellished later in the 19th century, when planting was added south of the house, a walled garden to the northeast, two gate lodges, two new entrances, a 'cave', the Victoria Drummond Gate and the Drummond Tower. The OS 6" map of 1868 is informative. By the early 20th century the property had been extended northwards to the main road and a new lodge added on this road. The former northern boundary road was planted up as an impressive avenue, as the OS 6" map revised in 1908 shows. More land had been taken in on the southeast boundary. More recently, there are signs of deterioration. The western gate lodge has gone and houses have been built to the north of the avenue. House derelict. Note: Information for this survey from driving round the perimeter of the property, map survey and NIAH information on the buildings. The aerial photograph indicates mature tree at corner of house in 2000.
