The Irish Georgian Society and Dublin City Council have announced a programme of online talks promoting the significance of Dublin’s period houses and giving practical advice on their conservation and repair. The online talks, which take place at 1pm each Tuesday from the 8th of March to the 31st of May, will be of benefit to owners of all period houses, whether that is a Georgian townhouse, a Victorian villa or an Edwardian artisan’s house.
The topics covered include Historic Windows by Nessa Roche of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage; Lime and Historic Pointing Techniques by Grainne Shaffrey of Shaffrey Architects; Roofs, Chimneys and Parapets by Lisa Edden of Cora Consulting Engineers; Energy Performance in Protected Structures by Carl Raftery and Sarah Jane Halpin of Dublin City Council; Sensitively Extending Your Protected Structure by Niamh Kiernan and Mary McDonald of Dublin City Council; and Disaster Planning and Insurance Considerations by Margaret Quinlan of Margaret Quinlan Architects.
The talks are approved for CPD by the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland, Engineers Ireland, the Irish Planning Institute and the Heritage Contractors.
Each talk costs €15, the whole programme costs €140, and bookings can be made through the Irish Georgian Society’s website.
