Collon House, an eighteenth-century “long house”, is full of character and charm. Its gracious rooms are exquisitely furnished with period antiques and paintings and retain the atmosphere of early Georgian living. The joint winner of the An Taisce Ellison Award for Conservation and Restoration in 2014, the adjudication remarked that ‘the owners of Collon House have given new life to what was the residence of one of the major Irish political figures of the eighteenth century… The conservation work, interior decoration and furnishing have been carried out with great sensitivity in retaining and enhancing the distinctive quality and atmosphere of the house’.
